Commissioner investigate activities of the social network outside the U.S. and Canada.
Advocacy groups complain of privacy practices.
Facebook is the target of investigations in Ireland, where its European headquarters, for alleged violation of laws to protect users’ data, said the “Financial Times” on Friday (30).
The newspaper said the activities of the social network outside the United States and Canada will be reviewed after complaints from privacy advocacy groups.
The groups say they are concerned about how the social network shares on the user’s activities, as well as trace level of the records left by the navigation users.
The “Financial Times” reports that Gary Davis, Irish Commissioner for Data Protection, said his office will conduct a detailed analysis of the group’s activities.
“The investigation will also examine whether Facebook complies with data protection laws of Ireland,” he said.
