The Broadway League has launched a new application for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that allows users to buy tickets for performances in time for the annual ceremony of delivery of the Tony Awards on June 12.
Based on ILoveNYTheater.com site, the association, the application allows the purchase in real time, gives the hours and duration times of all productions, and also the location of theaters, restaurants and hotel options on Broadway, and bring links for social media.
“It’s getting easier for the public to get the best seats at the best prices, from official sources,” said Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of the league.
The application is free, and is not charged on any additional tickets. The seats in theaters are marked directly from the official ticket agencies, which charge the same price that is charged for tickets purchased by phone or Internet.
The application also provides news on Broadway, integration with Google maps and a complete schedule of performances next week.
In the 2009-10 season, just over a third of the audience bought their tickets online – an increase of 363% compared with the last ten years.
